On the sidelines of the 51st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Prof James MOUANGUE KOBILA, the Chairperson of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission,
took part in a working session with four officials of the Association for the Prevention of Torture, on Friday, 16 September 2022, from 4.30 p.m. to 6.20 p.m.
Discussions focused on three main items:
- the current state of play of the CHRC ;
- the finalisation of the process of ratification by Cameroon of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, and
- the many prospects for cooperation between the CHRC and the APT.
During the visit of the CHRC Chairperson two copies of the collective book entitled DOES TORTURE PREVENTION WORK were offered to the Commission.
Since the APT had deposited five boxes of books for the Commission at the Permanent Mission of Cameroon in Geneva, the Chairperson brought these books back to Cameroon.
